Having grown up in Southwest Missouri, most of my youth was spent with a tool in my hand, fascinated with all things mechanical and structural. I found myself studying objects and wondering how they were built. That fascination led me to dismantle a variety of objects to better understand how they were constructed and worked. Luckily, understanding parents let me investigate everything around me.
The mechanical and structural curiosity led me to help with my father's projects in his woodshop or help my grandfather repair dairy farm equipment. My fascination of machinery grew as I observed my grandfather maintain farm vehicles. In doing this, I discovered I had technical skills as well. Gradually, I went from handing tools to my father or grandfather to using them on my own. By the time I was a teenager, I had become proficient with a vast number of tools and began to restore automobiles. It was during this time that I realized that the tool were an extension of my hands and has since held a great importance to myself and work."
